Who writes these books, the lineage behind the name, and why they exist.
Enlace Online's books are written under the name Sha_Varna. It is a pen name with a purpose: it carries the name of the lineage the author belongs to, so that every book in the series bears the name of the house it comes from.
In the Indian tradition, every family of the old learning traces itself to a rishi - a seer at the fountainhead of its line - whose name the family carries across the centuries in its gotra. The author's family flows from Shavarna Muni, remembered among the seers of old, whose descendants have carried his name from teacher to student, parent to child, in an unbroken chain: the same kind of living chain that carried the reckoning of the ages across three thousand years. Enlace Publication is dedicated to that lineage.
These books tell the story of India with both eyes open. The old thinkers named the valid instruments of knowledge the pramanas, and two of them govern every chapter. Shabda, the testimony of the texts, gives the tradition the first word - what the Vedas, the Itihasas and the Puranas say, quoted on their own terms. Pratyaksha, the seen evidence, then speaks - what archaeology, dating, genetics and the instruments of science show, carefully sourced, with uncertainties admitted.
Each chapter closes with Samanvaya, the honest harmonizing of the two: where they converge, where they diverge, and where the only honest answer is a shared silence before an open question. One eye alone sees a flat world; two eyes, set a little apart, give depth. This is an experiment in binocular history.
The books form a single work: The Unbroken Thread - A History of Indian Civilization in Eleven Volumes, published one sub-volume at a time, alongside a growing shelf on artificial intelligence in plain English. Read a free first chapter of any title on the site, then follow the thread.
